Laboratory Testing and Your Pet
Your pet unfortunately can't describe the symptoms that s/he is feeling and they are incredibly good at hiding any signs of pain, discomfort or illness. This leaves veterinarians with an obstacle that many human doctors do not have to contend with. This is one of the reasons why laboratory and diagnostic work is so important and is often critical in diagnosing a illness and being able to treat it appropriately. A simple blood test could mean the difference between life and death for your special family member. Fortunately for you and your your pet we have in-house and off-site testing.
Our in house diagnostics and tests include, but are not limited to, blood glucose tests, skin cytology, woods lamp test, ear mite testing and fluorescein eye stain testing. Blood work, urine or tissue samples are sent to an off-site laboratory for routine, specialised and geriatric panels as well as histology and any other analysis requiring more comprehensive procedures. Test results vary from the day you see the veterinarian to 48 hours afterwards depending on the test and depth needed.
