Although fleas and ticks are a year round problem, they are most active during the summer months. This is when the uncomfortable and painful biting, scratching, chewing routine starts. This is caused when the flea or tick bites at your poor pets skin to such on the blood to feed. Not only can this cause skin irritation, hair loss and infections but it can also lead to more detrimental conditions like anemia, which is when the iron level drops in the blood. Fleas have also been know to not only affect our cat and dog counterparts but also ourselves. They can cause many diferent allergic reactions in humans and were also responsible for spreading the black plague! Although ticks may not be as notorious, they can spread blood transferable diseases or even lyme.
