Veterinary Ultrasound
An Ultrasound and Your Pet
In some cases it may needed or recommended that your pet has an ultrasound performed. An ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that helps the veterinarian get a clearer picture of the internal organs, soft structures like the pelvis and muscles and even pregnancies. An ultrasound works very much like SONAR imaging on a boat by beaming high frequency sound waves to form a shaded picture. It it also does not carry the same risks as one that uses electromagnetic radiation which can cause chromosome breakage and cancer development. We use an on-call ultrasound technician, who performs the test in-clinic so you don't have to travel far, and we also utilise board-certified imaging consultants.
